The only truly portable reading tool

OK, I must admit that when I first saw the Amazon Kindle2, I thought So what! Why is this so special? All it does is display eBooks! What is so different about that!

However, on further investigation I now 'Get It'!

Not only can the Amazon Kindle 2 let you carry around your entire collection of books, but you also have in your hands an Amazon bookshop with over 230,000 titles which you can browse, purchase and download wirelessly at any time. And when I say 'wirelessly' I mean 'wirelessly', no computer or any other device is needed. It uses cell phone technology so you don't need your PC or have to find a 'hotspot', but unlike a cell phone there are no monthly bills or financial commitments. Of course if you want to copy personal stuff from your PC you can via the USB connector, but for buying and reading mainstream publications the Kindle is all you need.

The Electronic Paper Screen
The main complaint about reading from any electronic device is screen 'glare', it can be a strain on the eyes. The reason is that most computer screens, cell phones, PDA's etc. use a backlit display which causes eye strain. We're even told to take a break from computers at work every hour or so to prevent this. This second gereration of the Amazon Kindle uses a revolutionary new technology called 'electronic paper' which not only looks and reads like real paper but it isn't backlit. Essentially, it acts like a real book and it can even be read in sunlight! This high resolution natural looking display provides sharp text which is easy on the eyes. Purchasing eBooks
Buying an eBook couldn't be easier. Browse the Amazon Kindle store directly from the device, search for the book you want and download it. Most books cost a lot less than bookshop prices and are ready to read in under 1 minute. What's more, you're not destroying acres of rainforest to acquire your written material. The Kindle2 is not just for books either; newspapers, magazines, blogs, Wikipedia, and audio books are also available at your finger tips. Furthermore, most eBooks are available on a 'try before you buy' basis, so you can read the first couple of chapters and then decide if you want to buy it or not.

Backups
Every book you buy is backed up at Amazon, so you have your own personal media library online. If you are worried about losing your collection of eBooks then don't, just go to your Amazon account and they are all there to download again at no extra charge. Although the Kindle can store over 1,500 titles, you can also add an SD memory card to hold even more. But why would you need to do that if you can re-download them anytime you like.
